What this guide does that a list doesn't
Most Christmas lights lists are a pile of addresses. The useful questions are which ones are near each other, what order to drive them in, and what time it actually gets dark. So we work those out.
- Driving loops. For 112 towns we order every display into the shortest sensible circuit, with mileage and a time estimate. Nobody drives across town for one house.
- Local sunset times. "After dusk" is not an instruction. On 15 December the lights make sense from 5:38 PM in Clearwater but not until 4:10 PM in Amesbury — over an hour apart on the same evening.
- What's nearby. Every listing shows the other displays within 5 and 15 miles, so one stop turns into an evening.
- Honest verification. Every listing shows the season it was last confirmed and how many independent sources back it up. See how we verify listings.

Visiting someone's home
Most of the displays here are private houses whose owners put them on for free. Dip your headlights, keep the engine and the music down, don't block driveways, and take your rubbish home. Displays get shut down every year because of the traffic they attract — a bit of care keeps them running.
